¥400 per stick. Had our usual black sesame with shoyu (soy sauce). Not bad - a nice sweet savoury snack. This was more doughy(?) .. less chewy / mochi than some others we tried.

You can sample several types of yokan, which is rare even at a yokan shop in Nikko, so you can choose your favorite one. The wooden appearance is also wonderful, giving it a nostalgic feel. All of them are delicious, but they especially focus on the mizuyokan, which is perfect for home use or as a souvenir.

This is one of the popular Yokan Honpo shops in the Nikko area. Mr. Mitsuyama's products are not sold elsewhere, so you can purchase them at this store or have them shipped locally. (Please contact the store for details.) I compared Mitsuyama-san, Onihei-san, and Yoshidaya-san's mizu yokan. Both are long-established stores that have been in business for about 100 years. Each one has a slightly different color, taste, and texture, so try finding your favorite. The parking lot is located diagonally across the road.

Entering the many shops along the Nikko Yokan Kaido I've eaten mizu-yokan from different stores at department stores, but this is the first time I've purchased it at a store. After entering the store, I tried the [tasting] on the showcase and was convinced that there was no mistake ♪ If I could do the [tasting], I would be able to understand the taste properly, and I think that the store is confident that it can be served (^ o ^)b I bought "10 mizu yokan" and "bite yokan". The explanation of the store was very polite and I was able to shop with confidence. We also appreciate the parking lot for 5 cars across the street from the store.

The mizu yokan served at the restaurant was very delicious, and I heard that they used this yokan, so I bought it for home use. This was the first time I wanted to eat mizuyokan again, so I'm grateful for the new discovery of my own taste. I felt that the yokan that lasted a long time was a little too sweet for me. If I go nearby, I would like to buy mizuyokan again.

I bought a pack of 5 mizu yokan as a souvenir to take home. Samples for tasting are available in plastic cases with lids in the store. Paired with barley tea, it was the perfect combination, and my wife and I devoured it in no time when we got home.
